Ethan's Suit.
Ethan and I met at the Rapha Club House in Soho where he works. We got talking about creating something special for him. Something that reflected his lifestyle and his personal style. Ethan is a keen cyclist and skater, so i wanted to create something that could integrate into this side of his active lifestyle if he wanted it to, and ultimately I knew in doing this that we would create something both elegant and very Ethan.
We started the process working together by wandering through Soho dipping into haberdasheries to get a sense of what he liked and what would work well for cycling and skating. The demands of either sport are pretty tough. Thousands of pedal strokes that can cause wear, tumbles leading to tears and rips, and being active requires fabric that is easy to maintain.
We landed on a 12oz navy heavy cotton canvas, with lots of structure and a robust nature. I designed the cut to compliment Ethan's streetwear style preferences and to allow movement so he can approach either cycling or skating without fear of feeling restricted. The thick yarns and plain weave create a breezey quality that would serve Ethan well in a broad range of siuations across all seasons.
On the technical side, ensuring freedom of movement was ensured by fitting armholes as high as possible, adding pleats to the trouser waist to create extra room around the seat and thighs, and a wide-ish trouser cut.
The jacket is a 1x2 double breasted that results in an elongating elegance that compliments Ethan's slim cyclist build, cut long for his height, and the resulting look is effortless and semi-relaxed.
